Join the Campaign for Real Tankards !
On the following pages you can find some beautiful tankards made by hand in the age old way on the potters wheel. They come in various shapes, sizes (up to 2 pints!) and colours . . .
The tankards are made freely by hand and are not over-finished. They are as you might imagine a tankard to have been in medieval times, fresh off the wheel, into the fire and out into the market or the tavern. They are the perfect accompaniment to a real ale.
The tankards made in both 'earthenware' and 'stoneware'. Stoneware is made from a different clay and the glazes used are made from basic earth materials such as clays, granites and hardwood ashes. Stoneware is fired to a higher temperature so the product is harder and more durable, as the name suggests.
On the other pages you can find similarly made flagons, pitchers (ale and other uses), chargers and other table-ware. You make purchases in the 'online shop' and you can view the making sequence of a tankard.
